A Leading Name in French Architecture Arrives in Abu Dhabi: Rudy Ricciotti

Abu Dhabi: Rudy Ricciotti, one of the most renowned French starchitects of his generation, continues his international development with the opening of a new office in Abu Dhabi.

Architect and engineer of international renown, Rudy Ricciotti has notably received the National Grand Prix for Architecture (2006), the Gold Medal of the Académie d'Architecture (2013) and the Auguste Perret Prize of the International Union of Architects (2021). He is also a Knight of the Légion d'honneur and Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
Creator of emblematic projects such as the MuCEM in Marseille, the Department of Islamic Arts at the Louvre Museum in Paris, as well as the 19M building for Chanel, Rudy Ricciotti has established himself through a distinctive architecture combining creative boldness, mastery of materials and constructive innovation.

A new step in the United Arab Emirates
After establishing Rudy Ricciotti Middle East in Dubai on 1 January 2026 and nine months devoted to developing its activities and regional partnerships, the agency is taking a new step with the official establishment of its presence in Abu Dhabi.

This new presence supports the agency's growing momentum and its ambition to take part in the major cultural, institutional, educational, hospitality and urban projects of the United Arab Emirates and, more broadly, of the Middle East.

In a Middle East undergoing profound transformation, where investors and project owners increasingly seek more qualitative, timeless and sustainable architecture, Rudy Ricciotti wishes to bring its expertise and creativity to this new ambition, contributing, through architectural culture and constructive excellence, to the international influence of the United Arab Emirates.

Building differently: architecture designed to last
Rudy Ricciotti Middle East's ambition is clear: to bring the Emirates recognized French architectural and construction expertise, while developing responses tailored to the realities and ambitions of the territory.

The agency champions timeless architecture, favoring the authenticity of raw materials, the quality of structures, the elegance of proportions and the durability of its works.
Beyond aesthetic research, this approach also aims to rationalize construction methods, promote prefabrication where relevant, optimize delivery schedules and reduce the maintenance needs of buildings.

Build better, build more efficiently and build for future generations. Environmental innovation at the heart of our commitment.
In a region particularly exposed to extreme heat and the challenges of climate change, Rudy Ricciotti Middle East intends to place major emphasis on research and development of materials and construction techniques adapted to arid environments.

This approach draws on several decades of experience in construction innovation, notably in ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC), and aims to develop solutions that integrate regional resources and local industrial know-how.
The goal is also to rethink buildings from the design stage: control solar gains, enhance natural light, favor bioclimatic features and reduce energy needs for air conditioning and artificial lighting, without compromising occupant comfort.
It is not simply about building more efficient buildings, but about designing intelligent architecture, in which environmental qualities, comfort and aesthetics form one and the same project.

A Franco-Emirati ambition
Through its presence in Abu Dhabi, Rudy Ricciotti Middle East aims to build lasting partnerships with institutions, project owners, architects, engineers, universities and local manufacturers.

Our ambition is not to reproduce French architecture in the Emirates, but to put our experience and capacity for innovation at the service of a new architecture, deeply rooted in its territory.

An architecture that combines French expertise, the richness of local cultures and the environmental challenges of tomorrow.
