Dubai Police, RTA discuss enhancing collaboration

Dubai:Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, and Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), have recently discussed boosting joint efforts to improve the security and safety of roads and public transport in Dubai.
The meeting, which took place at the Command & Control Room at Dubai Police General HQ, discussed six vital projects and initiatives of mutual interest including the Schools Security initiative that aims at establishing a link with the educational sector in the Emirate of Dubai to stand at their needs, and to create a safe and happy school environment that embraces the culture of traffic safety, crime and health awareness.
The two parties also discussed activating the "Oyoon" CCTV Surveillance Project at metro stations to ensure the highest levels of safety and security at the vital facilities. They also discussed the Dubai Traffic Safety Plan comprising a number of elements: monitoring & traffic enforcement, road engineering & vehicles, traffic awareness, and improvement of systems and management.
During the meeting, officials have also reviewed standards and specifications of money transport vehicles, including preferred parking spots and qualifying human cadres working in this field. Furthermore, both parties reviewed the traffic violation scheme for taxi drivers, as well as the coordination and cooperation regarding the "dxbpermit.gov.ae" platform that is aimed at crowd and events management during the National Sterilisation Programme.
Towards the end of the visit, Mattar Al Tayer and the accompanying delegation toured Dubai Police's Security Innovation Laboratory and went over its contents of modern technology and the latest smart services as well as the AI-based security innovations. In addition to the latest police patrols equipped with various types of security and surveillance technologies that are directly related to the command and control centre at the General HQ.
Attendants from the Dubai Police were Major General PhD Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Excellence and Pioneering; Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Major General PhD Al Salal Saeed bin Huwaidi Al Falasi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Administration Affairs, and Major General PhD Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, Director of Forensic Science and Criminology. Attendees from the RTA were Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic & Roads Agency; and Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Rail Agency as well as several directors at the RTA and the Dubai Police.
