Dubai: Dubai Women Police have recently participated in a voluntary initiative aimed at collecting plastic bottled caps to exchange them for wheelchairs to senior citizens, residents, and people of determination. 

Organized by the General Department of Finance at Dubai Police, the voluntary initiative is labeled ‘Hope’ as it is aimed at giving hope to the elderly and people of determination as well as protecting the environment. 

Brigadier Dr. Ghaith Ghanem Al-Suwaidi, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academic and Training Affairs at Dubai Police, praised the exerted efforts by the member of police foundation courses for the women police, and its effective contribution to supporting the "Hope" initiative. He also reaffirmed the Academy's keenness on achieving the strategic plans and objectives of the Dubai Police, especially in the field of community happiness and instilling values of giving and volunteerism among its personnel. 

Captain Mariam Ghazal Obaid said the initiative aims at collecting the largest number of empty plastic water bottle caps to hand them over to the General Department of Finance at Dubai Police, which in turn will hand them over to charitable entities to replace them with wheelchairs for senior citizens, residents, and people of determination. "About 8000 plastic bottled caps have been collected so far", she added.
