Youth Council of Community Development Authority celebrates successes in engaging young people on International Youth Day

Dubai: In celebration of the International Youth Day, the Youth Council of the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai marked the occasion with a celebration of the organization’s achievements over the years, which included successfully implementing various programs and initiatives since its foundation.
The event was held at the CDA’s Al Barsha Community Center and attended by Ahmad Julfar, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, and several CDA officials and members of the Council.
The Youth Council reviewed its progress, roles, active community involvements and projects, since its launch in 2017, highlighting that there are 30 programs and initiatives of the Council including 18 collaborations with other parties that focused on youth empowerment and promotion of solidarity among communities.The said initiatives were supported and participated by more than 80 government entities.

Ahmad Julfar said: “The launching of the Youth Council in 2017 was part of CDA’s efforts to enable continuous youth participation in community development and encourage them to express their aspirations. We are very supportive of the young generations as shown in our involvement and initiatives focused on actively involving them and empowering their roles in the society.”
“In the previous two sessions, the Youth Council laid down organizational principles and from there they developed their own path while enhancing extensive skills and experiences for its members.Today, we stand on the threshold of a new phase.As we host the Expo 2020, we are also offering our youth great opportunities, new experiences, and inspirations for future development plans.These young leaders have a responsibility not just in the CDA, but in each community.They will shape the future of the country and represent the nation being one of the best.,” he added.

Huda Al Bastaki, Chairperson of the CDA’s Youth Council, stated: “Some of the most important achievements of the Council include capacity-building for its members, enhancing their project management skills, leadership and executive skills, as well as instilling the importance of volunteer work among them.”
“In 2020, despite the circumstances and restrictions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council continued its community involvement by raising awareness and spreading positivity. We also launched an initiative to collect plastic lids for water bottles while educating and disseminating information on environmental protection as well as the importance of drinking potable water.,” Al Bastaki added.
The enthusiasm of young people contributed to the successful collaborations with more than 80 government, semi-government, and private entities. About 48 per cent of the shareholders and supporters of the Council is from the private sector.
The event included the announcement of the Council’s third session alongside the nomination for membership application.
