Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid visits Dubai Police Stand at AccessAbilities Expo 2023

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People of Determination, paid a visit to the Dubai Police’s stand at the AccessAbilities Expo held at Dubai World Trade Centre.

During the visit, Sheikh Mansoor explored a wide range of services, programs, and courses specifically designed for people of determination, based on smart digital technologies and innovative solutions, to promote their inclusion within society and enhance their overall quality of life.

Moreover, Sheikh Mansoor witnessed a captivating sign language theater performance presented by students from the Hemaya Schools for boys which reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to engaging this vital segment of society in all disciplines include art. 

The Dubai Police's stand featured a number of innovative projects developed by students from Hemaya Schools for girls. One of these notable projects is the 'Smart Thermometer,' a wristband designed to be worn by children, individuals with disabilities, or senior citizens. This device continuously monitors the body temperature and sends notifications through a smart application, providing updates on health status. Moreover, it is capable of measuring heart rate and blood oxygen levels.

Furthermore, the stand also showcased the 'Friendly Hand,' a flexible waterproof glove with integrated sensors. These sensors receive motion commands from another sensor that is connected to the specific brain area responsible for movement. Subsequently, these commands are transmitted to the motor organs, enabling the execution of desired movements. The 'Friendly Hand' is specifically developed to assist individuals with erb's palsy, as well as individuals with functional muscles but impaired nerve function.

The Dubai Police stand also showcased the Smart Safe Bus project, which is an intelligent bus designed to ensure the safety of students with determination. This advanced bus features seat sensors that notify students when they try to stand up while the bus is in motion. Additionally, the bus driver can monitor the seats through a dedicated screen. Furthermore, the bus is equipped with cameras that allow parents to monitor their children remotely.

The 'Smart Guide' project was also presented during the exhibition at the Dubai Police stand. It introduces an initial model of a portable and user-friendly system designed to aid the mobility of the visually impaired and ensure easy navigation and seamless obstacle avoidance within a range of up to 5 meters. Additionally, it provides guidance to a specific destination, enabling individuals to reach their desired location independently, without assistance from others.

The Empowerment of People with Determination Council showcased the "Smart Path" service at the Dubai Police stand. This service, available at police centers, offers a seamless and natural way for visually impaired individuals to navigate their way to the center. Specifically designed for this purpose, individuals with visual impairments have a dedicated application installed on their smartphones. Upon arrival, they receive immediate audio guidance on their smartphones, providing step-by-step directions within the center and highlighting the locations of essential services and healthcare facilities.

During the event, the People of Determination Empowerment Council presented the 'Smart Path' service available at police stations. This service is designed to assist visually impaired individuals in accessing the station through a smart app. installed on their smartphones, tailored specifically for this group. When they arrive, the visually impaired individual receives clear voice-guided instructions on their smartphone, providing directions to key services and sanitary facilities.

The stand hosted art workshops for people of determination and conducted informative sessions to raise awareness about the proper use of emergency hotline 999 for urgent situations, as well as 901non-emergency inquiries and other services. Moreover, the Dubai Police Academy band entertained the audience with mesmerizing musical performances and impressive demonstrations featuring the K9 police dogs.
