Dubai Police ‘Criminal Security Lab' Explores the Future of Security Operations
- December 06, 2024
Dubai: Dubai Police organized the ‘Criminal Security Lab' as part of its Initiatives and Projects Forum Labs.
The event was attended by directors from various general departments and police stations, along with officers from the Criminal Investigation sector and strategic partners.
In his opening statement, Brigadier Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Qamzi, Assistant Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations for Administrative and Control Affairs, highlighted the lab's significance in shaping the future of criminal and security work. He emphasized that this initiative supports Dubai Police's efforts to achieve its three main strategic goals: 'Enhancing Community Happiness,' 'Making Dubai a Safe City,' and 'Innovation in Resource Management’.
Brig. Al Qamzi remarked that the Criminal Security Lab aims to address key challenges impacting criminal and security systems while facilitating the exchange of successful experiences and insights on critical issues related to community safety and security.
He indicated that the lab serves as an essential platform for bringing together a select group of strategic partners to discuss the current landscape of security work, ultimately enhancing safety in both the emirate and the country.
Brig. Al Qamzi encouraged participants to share innovative ideas, initiatives, and new projects. He pointed out that creative thinking and ground-breaking initiatives are not random occurrences; they result from research, persistence, regular meetings, and open dialogue among colleagues. He underscored that hard work and dedication play a significant role in broadening employees' perspectives and inspiring fresh ideas to tackle challenges, develop projects, or introduce new initiatives.
Objectives
Colonel Ahmad Hassan Al Hafiti, Director of the Initiatives and Projects Department at the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering, explained that the laboratories aim to involve experts from each police sector in launching initiatives and projects that align with Dubai Police's strategic goals for the coming years.
He outlined three main objectives for the labs organized by Dubai Police. The first is to develop innovative solutions for various current challenges in community, criminal, security, traffic, technical, financial, and administrative areas. This includes analysing existing issues across different sectors and creating techniques and solutions to enhance the security system.
Col. Al Hafiti added, “The second objective is to ‘strengthen collaboration with both the public and private sectors’ through workshops and discussion sessions promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise. The third objective focuses on achieving ‘proactivity’ by developing initiatives and projects that address challenges head-on while outlining actionable plans that concentrate on current issues, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures through continuous research and studies.”
Main Sessions
The ‘Criminal Security Lab' featured four main sessions. The first focused on developing labour zones; the second addressed the seizure of virtual assets; the third discussed the significant annual increase in the number of travellers and flights; and the fourth covered electronic fraud centres.
At the end of the event, the directors of general departments and police stations within the Criminal Investigation Affairs sector recognized the main speakers.
