Dubai Police Advances Forensic Science and Criminal Research with Eight Strategic MoUs

Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, has signed eight specialised Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading global and local technology companies and academic institutions.

The agreements aim to enhance collaboration in forensic science, criminal research, artificial intelligence applications, and scientific innovation.

The MoUs were signed during the World Police Summit 2025, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the theme “Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing.”

Strengthening Global and Local Cooperation

The department signed MoUs with:

• Middlesex University Dubai, focusing on student research projects and academic collaboration.

• European Forensics Institute, for joint research initiatives in forensic science.

• Axis Communications, in the field of biometric fingerprint technologies.

• Grammatech, to advance AI-powered forensic visual analysis.

• JAMF, a software company, to support mobile malware investigations.

• Speech Technology Center Ltd., to develop expertise in digital voice forensics.

• MGI Tech and FGI Forensic Genomics International, for advanced DNA analysis technologies.

A Future-Driven Forensic Vision

His Excellency Major General Ahmad Thani bin Ghalita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, emphasised that these agreements reflect Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to building robust partnerships with entities that specialise in forensic science, criminology, and AI-based forensic applications.

“These collaborations represent a strategic move to stay ahead of the curve by leveraging scientific research, innovation, and advanced technology to reinforce our forensic capabilities,” he said.

He also noted that partnering with academic and research institutions supports Dubai Police’s broader vision of foresight and excellence in criminal investigation and forensic research, contributing to global leadership in specialised policing disciplines.
