Dubai: As part of its ongoing humanitarian and social efforts, Dubai Police, through the General Department of Human Rights and in collaboration with the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, launched the “You Made Me Happy” initiative at the Women’s Prison. The initiative aimed to distribute Eid clothing to female inmates and their children, spreading joy and reinforcing values of tolerance and compassion.

The event was attended by Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi, Director of the Women’s Prison; Colonel Saeed Mubarak Al Sabousi, Acting Director of the Administrative Affairs Department at the General Department of Human Rights; Major Rashid Nasser Al Ali, Head of the Child Protection Section; and Ms Nouf Ali Al Ghazewi, Acting Head of Awareness and Education, alongside several officers and staff.

“You Made Me Happy” is a leading humanitarian initiative that reflects Dubai Police’s strong commitment to social responsibility. It also highlights the force’s focus on promoting positive values within correctional facilities, particularly supporting female inmates who require psychological and social assistance for successful reintegration into society.

Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi emphasised that Dubai Police adopts a holistic humanitarian approach to managing female inmates, extending beyond correctional aspects to include emotional and social support, upholding their dignity and rights. “Through this initiative, we aim to provide emotional and moral support to inmates, especially during religious occasions, which can significantly ease their psychological burden and restore a sense of belonging and dignity. The Eid clothing is not just a gesture but a message of hope, a reminder that they and their children are not forgotten.”

Colonel Saeed Mubarak Al Sabousi added, “This initiative, now in its eleventh consecutive year, is a clear testament to Dubai Police’s commitment to the vision of our wise leadership in building a compassionate and cohesive society. We prioritise humanitarian aspects of our work, especially concerning children and female inmates. We want everyone—even those inside correctional facilities—to feel included and entitled to joy and hope.”

The initiative included various engaging activities designed to uplift the spirits of the inmates and their children, such as gift distribution and entertainment programmes for children, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere filled with positivity.
