Dubai: Dubai has marked a major milestone in its journey toward futuristic urban mobility with the successful test flight of its first air taxi. The announcement was made by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the social media platform X. He stated that the test is part of comprehensive preparations for the official launch of air taxi services by 2026, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to innovation and smart infrastructure.

The breakthrough is the result of a collaboration between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Joby Aviation, a prominent U.S.-based company specializing in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Sheikh Hamdan commented on the achievement, saying, “This is a new milestone that reduces travel time, enhances quality of life in Dubai, and redefines sustainable and environmentally friendly urban transportation. This pioneering initiative aligns with our ongoing efforts to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation and cutting-edge technology.”
