- July 23, 2025
Dubai: As part of the student summer programme themed “Our Summer is Safety and Happiness… Innovation and Leadership”, Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, in collaboration with the General Department of Anti-Narcotics represented by the Hemaya International Centre, organised a series of educational and recreational activities in Hatta and Dubai schools. The initiative targeted primary and preparatory students, aiming to instil road safety awareness from an early age.
The summer programme is organised by the Dubai Police in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and several external entities, alongside various police departments and stations. The programme features broad student participation, involving pupils of different nationalities and age groups.
Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, affirmed that these initiatives align with the force’s vision to promote traffic awareness through innovative methods that blend education with entertainment. He stressed that such efforts contribute to nurturing a generation that understands traffic rules and behaves responsibly whether as passengers or pedestrians.
He added that the awareness sessions focused on key road safety principles, including the importance of adhering to traffic signals, crossing from designated areas, and wearing seat belts inside vehicles. The lectures also highlighted common risks that children may face in road environments.
In addition to the lectures, the events featured interactive and recreational elements, such as a drawing corner, motivational traffic-themed competitions, and awareness-raising questions that encouraged student engagement. Symbolic educational giveaways were distributed, bringing joy and excitement to the students. The activities also featured performances by the Dubai Police musical band and the beloved Dubai Police mascot, adding a festive and memorable touch.
At the conclusion of the events, Brigadier Al Awar expressed his appreciation to the school administrations for their valuable cooperation, praising the active participation of students and teaching staff. He reiterated Dubai Police’s commitment to enhancing field outreach and community engagement, pledging to continue implementing programmes that target students as the foundation of the future and a key pillar in achieving a safe and sustainable traffic environment.
