Cricket Board Refutes Claims of Slow India-Pakistan Ticket Sales

Dubai: The India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the sport’s most anticipated events, famous for its fierce competition and record-breaking crowds both in stadiums and on television worldwide.

Ahead of their upcoming clash in Dubai, some media outlets reported that ticket sales had been “sluggish” due to high prices and bundled packages. However, the Emirates Cricket Board has strongly dismissed these claims.

Speaking to Maa Gulf News, an official source called the reports “conjecture-based,” adding that the media was simply “picking stuff from each other” without proper verification. “We can safely say that sales are very encouraging. Just last night (Wednesday), we released about 3,000 tickets through the online channel Platinum List, and they were all sold out within minutes,” the source said.

The board clarified that tickets are being released in phases as part of a planned strategy, with both bundled packages and standalone options available for fans.

India and Pakistan are set to face off on Sunday, September 14, in Dubai. Due to political agreements, the two neighbours only compete in international tournaments held at neutral venues.

The last meeting between the sides also took place in Dubai during the 50-over Champions Trophy in February, where India emerged victorious and went on to claim the title.

India, the reigning Asia Cup champions with eight titles, will again be strong favourites, while Pakistan—two-time winners—are equally determined to make their mark. Both teams are grouped in Group A, alongside Oman and hosts United Arab Emirates.
