Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the Positive Spirit Council, in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, the General Department of Transport and Rescue, and Al Rashidiya Police Station, organised the closing activities of the “Shade and Reward” initiative. 

The event coincided with the “An Hour with the Cleaning Engineer” activity, which targeted 200 cleaning workers to raise awareness about preventing heat stress and the dangers of high temperatures.

Ms. Fatima Buhjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, confirmed that the “Shade and Reward” initiative, launched six weeks ago in cooperation with the General Department of Human Rights and the General Department of Police Stations, has now concluded its awareness activities. The programme focused on educating workers about heat stress, providing preventive advice and guidelines to avoid sunstroke and heat-related risks, and highlighting the importance of drinking plenty of water. She pointed out that nearly 2,400 workers across Dubai benefited from the initiative, with umbrellas and refreshments distributed to them.

She also noted the participation of 210 volunteers from the “Your Neighbourhood Police” programme, police volunteers, and members of the “Thanks for Your Giving” team. She stressed that initiatives aimed at workers reflect the Council’s objectives of promoting values of tolerance, coexistence, and giving, by involving all segments of society in awareness, sports, and community activities that encourage positive behaviours and strengthen communication between the community and Dubai Police.

The Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council added that the closing events, organised in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, included awareness lectures on workers’ rights and responsibilities, as well as road safety and traffic regulations. Participants were also reminded to use 901 for general enquiries, feedback, and complaints, and 999 for emergencies only, in addition to Dubai Police’s smart application and official website services.
