Dubai Police Hosts 2nd Edition of ‘Be the Link’ Forum to Promote Community Safety

Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the Crime Prevention Department of the General Department of Criminal Investigation and the Security Awareness Department of the General Department of Community Happiness, has hosted the second edition of its awareness forum “Be the Link”   for real estate companies and managers of labour accommodations.

The initiative aimed to promote awareness of Dubai Police services that enhance security and safety, contribute to community happiness, and raise awareness of cybercrimes, negative behaviours, and traffic safety.

The forum was inaugurated by Colonel Aref Beshoh, Director of the Crime Prevention at Dubai Police, in the several officers, staff, and company representatives.

In his opening remarks, Colonel Beshoh welcomed the attendees and affirmed that the forum aligns with Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to strengthening communication with various segments of society. He highlighted the importance of raising awareness around policing, crime prevention, and traffic safety to boost public security.

He stressed the importance of collaborative roles with all partners, especially those in the real estate sector, to help convey awareness messages that enhance knowledge among employees and labourers. He also wished success to all participants.

Emergency and Non-Emergency Communication

Attendees received a detailed briefing on how to contact Dubai Police. They were reminded to call 999 only in emergencies and 901 for non-emergency matters. The session also introduced the services provided by the Smart Police Station (SPS), which operates 24/7 with no human intervention, and the Dubai Police Smart App.

Police Eye

Participants were introduced to the “Police Eye” service, which allows community members to contribute to public safety by reporting misconduct or suspicious behaviour, including disputes, antisocial behaviour, or any actions that may lead to legal consequences.

Cybercrime Awareness

The forum included a segment on cybercrime, urging attendees not to click on unknown links or share banking or personal information with anyone claiming to represent government or financial institutions. The eCrime platform was introduced as an easy and accessible way to report cybercrimes via www.ecrime.ae

Traffic Safety

The session also covered key traffic safety rules, including the importance of adhering to speed limits, following road signs, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, yielding to pedestrians, and avoiding dangerous overtaking; all aimed at protecting lives.
