Dubai Police Student Council Hosts Security Police Debates Challenge

Dubai: The Dubai Police Universities and Colleges Student Council organised the Security Police Debates Challenge for university students and cadets, using structured debates to explore young people’s perspectives on contemporary social and security issues. A judging panel selected the team that presented the most convincing, evidence-based position and recommendations.
The debates at the Dubai Police Officers Club were attended by Brigadier Badran Al Shamsi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academic and Training Affairs; Brigadier Dr Sultan Abdulhamid Al Jammal, Director of Dubai Police Academy; Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Al Maamari, Director of Hemaya International Centre; Brigadier Dr Jamal Al Shihi, Dean of Sharjah Police Academy; Brigadier Staff Dr Ibrahim Hassan Al Zaabi, Academic Dean of the Police College; Captain Eng. Fahd Abdulqader Al Shaar, Director of Scholarships and Recruitment; Captain Marwan Al Bahri, General Supervisor of the Universities and Colleges Council; and Ahmad Yousuf Sanqour, Chair of the Council. Teams participated from Dubai Police Academy, Abu Dhabi Police College, Rabdan Academy, and Sharjah Police Academy.
Brigadier Dr Sultan Abdulhamid Al Jammal praised the students’ efforts in the challenge, stressing that this initiative reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to empowering youth and involving them in discussions on social and security challenges. He highlighted the role of such debates in developing analytical skills, constructive criticism, and the formulation of practical recommendations that serve the nation and society.
Captain Marwan Abdullah Al Bahri, General Supervisor of the Universities and Colleges Council, confirmed that the challenge is an innovative dialogue initiative targeting university and college students. It aims to strengthen critical thinking, argumentation, and persuasive communication skills through structured discussions on pressing social and security issues.
Council Chair Ahmad Yousuf Sanqour noted that the debates were marked by competitiveness in presenting views and evidence, contributing to enhancing students’ security awareness, research abilities, and communication skills, thereby fostering a responsible academic community capable of facing security challenges.
At the close of the challenge, Brigadier Dr Sultan Abdulhamid Al Jammal honoured the winning team from Sharjah Police Academy and took commemorative photos with all participants.
