Dubai Police Impound 28 Vehicles Due to Unsettled Traffic Violations
- October 14, 2025
Dubai: Dubai Police have seized 28 vehicles that accumulated multiple traffic violations during recent inspection campaigns conducted by the General Department of Traffic, represented by the Violations Monitoring Department. This initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to enhance road safety and combat reckless driving behaviors.
Brigadier Jumaa Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, pointed out that some of the seized vehicles had accumulated violations totaling tens of thousands of dirhams. He stressed that such behavior reflects a blatant disregard for traffic laws and the regulations designed to protect lives and property.
Brig. Bin Suwaidan affirmed that Dubai Police will not be lenient in enforcing the law and will take strict legal action against anyone who deliberately ignores fines or fails to register and renew their vehicles. He noted that some of the seized vehicles had not had their licenses renewed for years, which poses an added threat to road safety.
The Director of the General Department of Traffic further emphasized that, under Decree No. (29) of 2015 concerning vehicle impoundment in Dubai, Article (2) mandates the impoundment of any vehicle with traffic fines exceeding AED 6,000.
Brig. Bin Suwaidan urged drivers with accumulated violations to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and settle their accounts through the smart features in the Dubai Police app, which facilitates easy payment or installment of fines. He highlighted that these initiatives demonstrate the Dubai Police's commitment to offering flexible and innovative solutions that help individuals comply with the law and prevent fines from accumulating, ultimately enhancing road safety and security.
Brig. Bin Suwaidan also reiterated that the Dubai Police will continue to conduct regular inspection campaigns targeting vehicles that violate regulations and those that remain unregistered. He emphasized that neglecting to pay fines or allowing them to accumulate will not be tolerated, and violators will face strict legal consequences, including potential vehicle impoundment and additional penalties.
Meanwhile, Colonel Abdullah Mohammed Rashid, Director of the Violations Monitoring Department at the General Department of Traffic, confirmed that enforcement teams are actively conducting organized field campaigns targeting vehicle owners who have not paid their fines or renewed their licenses. He indicated that these efforts are part of Dubai Police's strategy to enhance compliance and traffic discipline across the emirate.
Col. Abdullah Rashid explained that the campaigns utilize smart systems and advanced technologies to identify wanted vehicles, enabling patrols to detect violating vehicles, whether they are on the road or parked in public areas.
He further noted that the department communicates directly with owners of violating vehicles through text messages and smart alerts, encouraging them to resolve their issues before legal actions are taken. He stressed that the purpose of these campaigns extends beyond merely issuing fines or impounding vehicles; it aims to raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility among drivers regarding the importance of adhering to traffic laws.
Col. Abdullah Rashid affirmed that Dubai Police is committed to a positive deterrence approach, combining education with strict enforcement to ensure the safety of all road users.
