Dubai: Dubai Police, through its initiative Your Commitment is Happiness, continues to run awareness activities designed to educate sports fans about their responsibilities and to encourage positive and respectful behaviour in the stands.

In cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, the initiative delivered an awareness workshop at the Jordanian Social Club in Dubai. The session focused on the obligations set out in Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 concerning the security of sports facilities and events.

First Lieutenant Nabet Sultan Al Ketbi explained that the initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between clubs and their supporters and to create a unified effort to enhance fan happiness. He highlighted the role of positive cheering and the responsible use of social media in promoting constructive messages and healthy criticism, which reflect the country’s civilised image across all sporting venues.

He added that the initiative helps audiences understand the boundaries of acceptable behaviour and the risks associated with expressing emotions in negative or harmful ways. It also reinforces fans’ legal responsibilities under the Federal Law on Sports Facilities and Events Security. 

Al Ketbi noted that the initiative has received strong support from sports and media institutions and has achieved notable community engagement, which has contributed to a clear reduction in negative behaviour in stadiums.

Al Ketbi further explained that the provisions of the Federal Law ensure comprehensive safety measures for athletes and sports facilities across the country. “The law aligns with advanced security standards and international best practices used for major events and sports festivals,” he said.
