- March 21, 2026
UAE: Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, paid a working visit to New Delhi on Thursday, March 19, 2026, during which she met with H.E. Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, and H.E. Vikram Misri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, in addition to reviewing current regional developments and the repercussions of Iran's terrorist missile attacks on security and stability in the region, as well as their impact on the global economy and the security of energy supplies.
The talks also addressed the importance of protecting maritime security, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, as a vital corridor for global energy supplies and international trade, and the two sides stressed the need to ensure and protect freedom of navigation in a way that supports regional and international stability.
Her Excellency stressed that the treacherous attacks against the UAE and the countries of the region represent a grave violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, international humanitarian law, a violation of the sovereignty of states, and a direct threat to their security and stability, as well as disrupting the movement of global trade and maritime routes.
Her Excellency stressed that the UAE does not compromise in protecting its sovereignty, reserves its full right to self-defense, its security and national gains, and seeks sustainable regional stability based on respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their affairs, and is committed to continuing to work with the United Nations and its international partners to promote stability, prevent further escalation in the region, and maintain international peace and security.
Her Excellency explained that Security Council Resolution 2817, co-sponsored by 136 Member States of the United Nations and calls on Iran to immediately and unconditionally cease these attacks, affirms its full responsibility for all damage and losses suffered by the affected countries, considering that it sends a clear and unified message that the international community will not tolerate attacks on the sovereignty of States or the deliberate targeting of civilians and critical infrastructure, and that such acts constitute a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security. It calls for an immediate cessation of these attacks and provocations.
It also referred to the resolution of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), adopted on Thursday during the 36th extraordinary session of the Council and co-sponsored by more than 115 Member States, the largest number of sponsors of a resolution in the history of the organization, which strongly condemns Iranian threats and attacks, and calls on Iran to immediately refrain from any acts of aggression or threats.
