Abu Dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a Federal Decree appointing Mohammed Saeed Rashid Al Shehhi as the Secretary-General of the National Media Authority (NMA) with the rank of Ministry Undersecretary.

In his new role, Al Shehhi will report directly to the Chairman of the National Media Authority and will be responsible for shaping, evaluating, and monitoring the UAE’s national media narrative. His responsibilities include strengthening the country’s global reputation and positive image while ensuring effective media governance.

He will also oversee the early identification and management of media-related crises affecting the UAE, supervise the development of policies, strategies, and legislation aimed at regulating and advancing the national media sector, and oversee the licensing of media institutions and media-related activities across the country.

Additionally, Al Shehhi will supervise the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and manage the registration and accreditation of journalists and correspondents representing foreign media organizations, including those operating within the UAE’s free zones.

Before this appointment, Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi served as the Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council. Throughout his career, he has held several senior leadership positions in the media, specialized economic zones, and sports sectors. He has played a key role in implementing major media development initiatives across the UAE and has been instrumental in supporting the growth of national talent and strengthening the country's media capabilities.
