Czechia: Europe’s Fastest-Growing Destination for GCC Travellers
- August 26, 2026
Dubai: Czechia is strengthening its position as one of Europe’s most compelling travel destinations for travellers from the GCC, following new data that identifies the country as the fastest-growing booked destination among Europe’s top markets. According to the Travel Insights 2026: Focus on Europe report by Amadeus Travel Intelligence and UN Tourism, Czechia recorded 18% year-on-year growth in bookings, placing it ahead of Iceland and Denmark among Europe’s fastest-growing booked destinations. The recognition was also highlighted by Euronews, which positioned Czechia as a leading destination gaining momentum among international travellers.
For the GCC market, this momentum presents a timely opportunity to position Czechia as a destination that combines easy European access with experiences that are highly relevant to families, couples, millennials, premium travellers and special-interest segments. From Prague’s historic cityscape and vibrant cultural scene to spa towns, castles, countryside escapes, gastronomy, shopping and soft adventure, Czechia offers a compact yet diverse European holiday experience ideal for short breaks, summer escapes, Eid holidays, wellness retreats and longer regional itineraries.
The latest travel insights also show that Central/Eastern Europe is gaining renewed attention, with Czechia ranked among the leading destinations in the subregion for both searches and bookings. Czechia ranked fifth among top booked destinations in Central/Eastern Europe and fourth among top searched destinations in the subregion during May 2025 to April 2026. The same report further notes that Czechia leads destination growth in Central/Eastern Europe on both searches and bookings, with 31% search growth and 9% booking growth among the top 30 destinations.
For GCC travellers, Czechia offers a strong mix of city-break convenience and deeper discovery. Prague remains a natural gateway, offering iconic landmarks, architectural heritage, riverside experiences, shopping, gastronomy and a lively cultural calendar. Beyond the capital, regions such as Karlovy Vary, Český Krumlov, South Moravia and Bohemian Switzerland provide opportunities for wellness, heritage exploration, scenic touring, soft adventure and curated itineraries that encourage longer stays and repeat visitation.
Mrs. Barbara Andelová, International Marketing Manager, CzechTourism said: “We are delighted to see Czechia recognised as Europe’s fastest-growing booked destination, reflecting the increasing demand for authentic, experience-rich travel among international visitors. For travellers from the GCC, Czechia offers a unique blend of cultural heritage, vibrant city experiences, wellness, nature, gastronomy, shopping and regional discovery, all within a destination that is easy to explore year-round. Beyond the iconic attractions of Prague, visitors can uncover charming historic towns, world-renowned spa destinations and breathtaking natural landscapes, making Czechia an ideal choice for both short breaks and longer, more immersive journeys.”
Beyond its rich cultural heritage and wellness offerings, Czechia is increasingly catering to the needs of GCC travellers with a growing selection of halal-friendly dining options. In Prague, visitors can enjoy halal cuisine at popular establishments such as Safa Restaurant, Hummus Bar, Layla Restaurant, Mangal Restaurant and K The Two Brothers, alongside a variety of Turkish, Lebanese and Middle Eastern dining venues.
Combined with family-friendly attractions, luxury shopping, premium spa experiences and easy access to destinations such as Karlovy Vary, Český Krumlov, South Moravia and Bohemian Switzerland, Czechia offers GCC travellers a comfortable, welcoming and easily accessible European holiday experience.
The rise in Czechia’s popularity also mirrors a broader shift in European travel preferences. According to the Amadeus and UN Tourism report, travellers are increasingly looking beyond traditional tourism powerhouses and showing stronger interest in culturally rich destinations, city breaks and nature-led travel. This aligns strongly with Czechia’s proposition for the GCC, where travellers can combine Prague with regional extensions, wellness escapes, family holidays, culinary discovery and heritage-led itineraries.
Czechia is also well placed to appeal to mature and high-spending European travellers. The report notes that the 46-65 age group leads the visitor mix across Europe at around 30%, supporting premium experiences and cultural offerings. This opens opportunities to promote Czechia across the GCC through curated cultural packages, premium stays, spa and wellness holidays, escorted tours and multi-generational travel experiences.
With the destination gaining international recognition and travel demand shifting towards authentic and distinctive European experiences, Czechia is inviting GCC travellers to consider the country as their next European escape. From Prague’s timeless charm and UNESCO-listed heritage to wellness retreats, scenic countryside escapes, castles, forests and authentic regional experiences, Czechia offers GCC travellers an inspiring European journey that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
