- May 17, 2025
Dubai: The World Police Summit 2025 opened this week at the Dubai World Trade Centre, with delegations from more than 100 countries participating. The event brought together top law enforcement leaders from around the globe, including representatives from INTERPOL, the United Nations, and key international police agencies.
Held until May 15, the summit was organized under the theme “Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing,” focusing on artificial intelligence in policing, the fight against transnational crime, and strengthening collaboration between public and private security sectors.
The agenda for the first day centered on four major themes: organized crime, anti-money laundering, post-digital transformation, and borderless policing. These topics were explored through high-level strategic conferences, panel discussions, and workshops featuring over 300 international speakers and experts.
The summit opened with a high-level plenary session featuring leaders from INTERPOL, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the New York Police Department, and other prominent institutions. Discussions focused on future policing strategies in light of complex and evolving global threats, financial crime, digital investigation tools, balancing national security with international cooperation, and preventing human trafficking through empowerment and awareness.
Lt. Khalid Mohammed B. Banasser explained the services offered by Smart Police Stations (SPS) to visitors. Smart Police Stations are the world’s only unmanned police stations, where individuals can file complaints or access any of the 46 listed services—including permit requests, criminal matters, and traffic concerns—without the physical presence of a police officer.
They also allow individuals to file criminal reports without face-to-face interaction. Instead, complainants can engage in video calls with multilingual investigative officers. During these virtual meetings, officers discuss all the necessary details and send a report for the individual to sign.
There are 22 unmanned police stations located in Arabian Ranches, La Mer, Last Exit–Al Khawaneej, Last Exit–E11 (Dubai-bound), Last Exit–E11 (Abu Dhabi-bound), City Walk, Al Seef, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Palm Jumeirah, Al Muraqqabat, Dubai Police HQ, Dubai Design District (D3), Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA), Expo City Dubai, Hatta, Al Lesaily, and Al Eyaas suburban police points.
SPSs are available in seven languages: Arabic, English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Chinese.
