Travel Alert Issued for Emiratis and UAE Residents Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory for Emirati citizens and residents due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, urging caution and proactive measures in light of rapidly deteriorating regional security.

In an official statement shared on social media, the Ministry called on UAE nationals, residents, and travelers to check directly with airlines for the latest updates on flight operations and schedule changes.

The Ministry has also strongly advised Emiratis currently in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Israel to register with the Twajudi service — a platform designed to support UAE nationals abroad and assist in emergency evacuations if necessary.

Flight Disruptions Widen
Tensions surged on Friday following a major Israeli airstrike on Iran, which targeted key military officials and nuclear infrastructure. In retaliation, Iran launched a series of missile attacks on Israel early Saturday, significantly escalating the conflict.

As a result of the hostilities, Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv has been closed. Etihad Airways confirmed the cancellation of flights to and from Tel Aviv and warned of wider disruptions across the region.

“Etihad Airways is experiencing disruption to several services across the region due to airspace closures and the continuing regional situation,” the airline said in a statement on Saturday. The carrier added that travelers transiting through Abu Dhabi for onward connections to suspended destinations will not be accepted for travel from their departure point.

“This remains a developing situation likely to cause further disruptions and delays in the coming days,” the airline added, noting that it is closely monitoring airspace and security updates in coordination with relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, Dubai-based Emirates Airline also announced the suspension of services to Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iran due to the ongoing security concerns.

Several other international airlines, including Lufthansa and Air India, were forced to reroute flights mid-air on Friday amid sudden airspace closures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its commitment to the safety and wellbeing of UAE citizens and urged travelers to remain updated through official channels.
