Dubai: Dubai Police, through its initiative “Your Commitment is Happiness,” held an awareness lecture for students of the summer student programme, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council. 

The session took place at Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena and focused on the responsibilities of sports fans in accordance with Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 on the Security of Sports Facilities and Events.

During the session, Lieutenant Nabit Sultan Al Ketbi emphasised that the initiative aims to enhance communication with sports fans and bring happiness to the public by promoting a culture of positive support. He highlighted the importance of using social media to spread constructive messages and encourage respectful engagement among all parties involved in sporting events, thus reflecting the UAE’s civilised image in stadiums.

He further noted that the initiative seeks to raise awareness among the public about the boundaries of acceptable fan behaviour and the risks of expressing emotions in a harmful manner. It also aims to ensure that spectators fully understand their responsibilities under the federal law governing the safety of sports facilities and events.

Lieutenant Al Ketbi added that the provisions of the federal law are designed to safeguard athletes and sports venues across the country, through advanced security standards aligned with international best practices for managing the safety of sports festivals and events.
