- August 11, 2025
Dubai: Emirates Ladies Club for Toastmasters. The workshop is part of the association's efforts to raise the professional level of journalists and develop their public speaking and leadership skills by equipping them with the latest knowledge and tools to enable them to keep pace with digital developments in the media.
Fadhila Al Muaini, President of the UAE Journalists Association, welcomed the workshop participants, wishing them success and maximum benefit from its content. She hoped it would be a fruitful opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge, a platform for inspiration and skill development, and one brimming with benefits and success. She hoped they would return with innovative ideas and outstanding achievements.
She stated that the association's efforts are not limited to organizing training courses alone, but extend to building modern training infrastructure, establishing educational and professional partnerships, and launching initiatives to prepare the next generation of media professionals. This reflects a clear strategy to empower media professionals to efficiently meet the challenges of the digital age and the future.
For her part, Ahlam Al Lamki, President of the Emirates Ladies Toastmasters Club, gave an introductory overview of Toastmasters International. She began her speech by extending her thanks and appreciation to the organizers of the Emirates Journalists Association for their warm welcome and cooperation in organizing this community awareness workshop, which aimed to shed light on the origins of Toastmasters, its objectives, and how it can support the personal and professional growth of its members and be a key to its success.
She explained that Toastmasters International is a non-profit, non-governmental educational organization founded in 1924 and present in 148 countries worldwide. It works to provide a supportive learning environment for its members through the educational paths that affiliate members join, in addition to the presence of a mentor who accompanies the member on this educational journey to acquire effective communication skills, leadership and influence, the ability to improvise, and other skills.
Ahlam Al Lamki pointed out that there are two types of Toastmasters clubs: community clubs, such as the Emirates Ladies Club, and clubs affiliated with institutions that have established Toastmasters clubs to develop the public speaking and leadership skills of their employees.
During the workshop, several trainers from the Emirates Ladies Toastmasters Club presented miniature models simulating regular meetings of the International Toastmasters Clubs, an icebreaker speech, and an impromptu speech segment, with the participation of members of the Emirates Journalists Association.
The introductory workshop also included a review of the silent roles that the member takes in periodic meetings.
At the conclusion of the workshop, future prospects for cooperation between the UAE Journalists Association and the Emirates Women's Toastmasters Club were discussed, to serve the interests of both sides.
