Abu Dhabi: The UAE Journalists Association and the Emirates Safe Internet Association signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the partnership in spreading a culture of safe and responsible internet use, protecting emerging generations from digital risks, and enabling them to make the best use of the digital world.

The agreement was signed by Fadila Al-Muaini, President of the UAE Journalists Association, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Muhayyas, President of the Emirates Safer Internet Association, at the headquarters of the UAE Journalists Association in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Mohammed Al-Tunaiji, Vice President of the Association, Hassan Omran, Board Member, Fida Murshid and Nasser Al-Balushi from the administrative body of the Abu Dhabi branch, in addition to Engineer Adel Al-Kaf Al-Hashemi, Vice President of the Emirates Safer Internet Association.

Fadila Al-Muaini pointed out that the agreement reflects the association’s keenness to promote community awareness using various traditional and digital media tools, and to spread a culture of safe internet use, which contributes to protecting the target groups, especially young people, from digital risks and harmful practices.

She added that the association will continue to build effective partnerships with stakeholders in digital security and electronic knowledge, with the aim of providing a safer digital media environment.

For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muhayyas explained that the agreement comes in response to the increasing challenges related to the safe use of the Internet, in light of the spread of smart devices and means of accessing the network, and the accompanying risks that affect children and youth in their educational, social and professional fields.

He also praised the national and media role of the UAE Journalists Association in supporting initiatives that promote responsible internet use and information security.
