Indian Consulate and Dubai Police Celebrate International Day of Yoga

Dubai: The Consulate General of the Republic of India in Dubai, in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Command – represented by the Dubai Police Officers' Club and the Positive Spirit Council–marked the International Day of Yoga 2026 with a community event at the Dubai Police Officers' Club. The event saw wide participation of over 2,000 participants from various segments of society, coinciding with the Year of the Family.
The event was organised to celebrate the International Day of Yoga under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, affirming the vital role of yoga in promoting resilience and independence among individuals of all ages, and supporting the concepts of preventive health and holistic wellness.
The celebration was attended by His Excellency Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of the Republic of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Major General Dr. Expert Mohammed Essa Al Adhab, Director of the General Department of Logistic Support at Dubai Police; Major Adel Mohammed Hassan, Director of the Dubai Police Officers' Club; Ms. Fatima Ahmed Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council; along with a number of officials and representatives of participating entities.
Major General Dr. Mohammed Essa Al Adhab affirmed that hosting this event aligns with Dubai Police's directions to enhance quality of life and community health, noting that yoga has become a global practice that contributes to physical and mental balance and promotes healthy lifestyles – positively reflecting on the wellbeing of individuals and communities.
Meanwhile, Major Adel Mohammed Hassan stated: "We are proud to host this event that brings together community members from various nationalities and cultures under one roof, promoting health, wellness, and human connection, and reaffirming the community role of the Dubai Police Officers' Club in supporting meaningful initiatives."
Ms. Fatima Ahmed Buhajeer expressed her happiness at the large turnout, affirming that the participation of more than 2,000 people reflects the success of joint efforts in raising awareness of the importance of physical and mental health.
She noted: "At the Positive Spirit Council, we are keen to support initiatives that contribute to enhancing happiness and quality of life, and to promoting the values of tolerance, community cohesion, and positive interaction among all segments of society."
The event was attended by members of the Indian community, Dubai Police personnel, diplomatic corps members, students, and yoga enthusiasts. They performed a group session under the supervision of specialised instructors, which included physical yoga exercises, breathing exercises, and meditation – offering participants the opportunity to benefit from the physical and mental health benefits of this global practice.
This event reflects the commitment of both sides to strengthening cooperation in cultural, community, and health fields, contributing to the promotion of tolerance, positive coexistence, and the enhancement of quality of life.
