- June 26, 2026
Dubai: Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, visited the anti-drug awareness exhibition organised by Dubai Police at Dubai Hills Mall as part of the national campaign run by the National Drug Enforcement Authority (NDEA) under the theme “United as One to Eradicate the Threat.”
Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid was welcomed by Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, and Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Maamari, Director of the Hemaya International Centre, in the presence of representatives from the organisations participating in the exhibition.
During her tour, Buhumaid reviewed the awareness, prevention and rehabilitation services and programmes presented by the participating organisations, including NDEA, the Community Development Authority, the Dubai Health Authority, Al Ameen Service, the Erada Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation in Dubai, the National Rehabilitation Centre, Al Amal Hospital, and the International Hemaya Centre at the General Department of Anti-Narcotics.
Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza reaffirmed Dubai Police’s commitment to participating in international initiatives and awareness events, including the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, recognising their vital role in protecting society from the dangers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances while promoting prevention, awareness and guidance. He also thanked all the teams that contributed to the success of the exhibition and its accompanying activities.
He noted that the International Day Against Drug Abuse has become a major national occasion in the UAE, during which the Ministry of Interior and security institutions across the country intensify their efforts to combat the threat of drugs, protect young people, and strengthen security awareness among all segments of society.
“Our shared objective is to build a well-informed community capable of confronting this challenge through prevention, education and collective responsibility,” Brigadier bin Muwaiza said.
Brigadier Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Maamari said the International Day Against Drug Abuse serves as an important awareness and community engagement platform, enabling Dubai Police specialists in drug prevention to interact directly with members of the public over three days.
“Through these activities, we exchange ideas, better understand the concerns facing young people and their families, and develop initiatives that help build safe, stable and resilient families through awareness events, lectures and educational workshops,” he said.
He encouraged the public to visit the Dubai Police exhibition and its partner organisations at Dubai Hills Mall to benefit from valuable advice and practical information on preventing drug abuse and supporting family wellbeing.
Brigadier Dr Al Maamari also praised the continued support provided by the General Department of Anti Narcotics’ partners, highlighting their significant contribution to awareness and rehabilitation programmes that help people recovering from addiction reintegrate into society as productive individuals.
