Dubai Hindu Temple becomes first globally to achieve ISO 27001:2022 certification

Dubai: The Hindu Temple, Dubai has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification, the internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), marking a significant milestone in information security and digital governance for religious and community institutions.

According to certification records published through the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), The Hindu Temple, Dubai is recognised as the first temple globally to achieve ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification.

The certification was completed through Cyber AI Certification following a comprehensive assessment process that included the implementation of information-security controls, internal auditing and a formal certification audit.

Strengthening International Standards
The latest certification adds to the Temple’s growing portfolio of internationally recognised standards. In 2024, The Hindu Temple, Dubai achieved certifications and accreditations including ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 22000 for Food Safety, and HACCP certification.

The addition of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 extends this framework to information security, focusing on protecting information, digital systems and technology-related risks.

Focus on Devotee and Stakeholder Trust
Temple authorities said the certification reflects their commitment to maintaining the trust of devotees, employees, suppliers, service providers and other stakeholders.

As the Temple increasingly adopts digital platforms and technology across its operations, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 provides a structured framework for identifying and managing information-security risks, strengthening cybersecurity controls, improving preparedness for potential security incidents and promoting responsible governance.

Moving Towards a Digital, Paperless and Cashless Temple
The Temple is also advancing its broader digital transformation programme, with a focus on creating a more paperless and cashless operating environment.

The initiative aims to make services and internal processes more efficient, transparent and convenient while reducing dependence on paper and strengthening digital payment and transaction systems.

The implementation of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 provides an important security foundation for this transformation, ensuring that new technologies and digital processes are supported by appropriate security, risk-management and governance measures.

Collective Achievement
The Temple described the certification as a collective achievement involving the Temple Committee, management, IT governance team and staff, who worked towards adopting international best practices and strengthening operational systems.

The Temple also expressed appreciation to Cyber AI Certification for carrying out the certification process and to everyone involved in achieving the milestone.

Temple authorities emphasised that certification is not the end of the process, but part of an ongoing commitment to continuous monitoring, compliance and improvement.

Going forward, The Hindu Temple, Dubai said it will continue to review and strengthen its management systems, information-security practices, policies and controls in response to evolving technologies, operational requirements and cybersecurity risks.

The ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification further strengthens the Temple’s broader commitment to combining its spiritual and community responsibilities with quality, safety, sustainability, food safety, information security, digital transformation and responsible governance.
