Dubai Police holds 3rd K9 International Forum

Dubai:The Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Protective Security & Emergency, has recently announced the 16th of August, 2020 (Upcoming Sunday) to be the launching date of the third K9 International Forum.

During a press conference, the Dubai Police K9 Department revealed that the forum will be held via remote communication technology. 
 
Under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, with the participation of an elite group that consists of local and international K9 experts and specialists. The forum will discuss best practices and most modern training techniques and methods that contribute to improving the competence of trainers and K9 dogs.


This year forum will shed light on the research and scientific areas in this field, in addition to discussing many axes related to training and enhancing competence, training K9s to detect drugs and COVID-19, as well as tracking and searching for objects. 

The forum will also discuss how to train K9 canines during complete lockdown in emergency cases, and how to maintain dogs' motivation and performance while working in stringent environments. 

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency at Dubai Police, pointed out the 3rd forum will be held remotely in accordance with the instructions and guidelines issued by UAE official authorities. 

"The Scientific research is one of the requirements that are considered essential nowadays because its importance and impact in all areas, including the scientific and security fields. Therefore, this year's forum has been devoted to scientific areas in the field of K9 dogs", Al Ghaithi said.

"The forum aims to share local and international knowledge and experiences, and benefit from scientific research that facilitates and serves work process", he added.  

For his part, Major Salah Khalifa Al Mazrouei, director of Dubai Police Security Inspection K9 Unit, said the forum contributes to exchanging theoretical and practical knowledge and getting acquainted with the local and international experiences in the field of police dogs in order to set a futuristic vision to develop and qualify trainers.
