Dubai: Dubai Police has launched a specialised course in fingerprint science for Abu Dhabi Police personnel. 

 

Major General Ahmad bin Ghalita, Director of the General Department of Forensics and Criminology, inaugurated the course alongside senior officials, including Colonel Engineer Rashid Lootah, Deputy Director for Technical Affairs, Colonel Suleiman Al Ameri, Director of Programme Design and Development, and Colonel Jassim Mohammed Rashid, Director of the Fingerprint Department.

 

 Bin Ghalita welcomed the participants and highlighted Dubai Police’s dedication to fostering cooperation with other security entities across the UAE. He stressed the critical role fingerprint science plays in crime detection, describing it as the backbone of forensic evidence. He applauded the efforts of crime scene fingerprint specialists, who often resolve the most challenging cases through their precision and expertise, even when perpetrators attempt to erase traces of their crimes.

 

He encouraged attendees to apply the skills gained during the course to enhance their investigative capabilities and wished them career success.

 

 

Colonel Suleiman Abdullah Al Ameri outlined Dubai Police’s “Skill Investment Programme,” which aims to train professionals across various sectors in the UAE and GCC. Led by internationally certified trainers, the programme supports Dubai Police’s vision of achieving global excellence through knowledge sharing and professional development.

 

 

Colonel Jassim Mohammad Abdullah elaborated on the comprehensive structure of the fingerprint science course. Participants will undergo six specialised modules, including:

• Fingerprint Printing Techniques

• Fingerprint Technician Skills

• Fundamentals of Lifting Fingerprint Traces

• Basics of Fingerprint Comparison

• Forensic Report Writing

• Processing Fingerprints

These training modules aim to equip Abu Dhabi Police officers with advanced techniques and practical expertise in handling and analysing forensic fingerprint evidence, strengthening their ability to solve crimes efficiently.
