Dubai Police Hosts First Academic Foresight Forum Under the Theme \'Future Visions for Innovative Curricula\'

Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the Dubai Police Academy in collaboration with the Centre for Future Foresight, hosted the first Academic Foresight Forum under the theme “Future Visions for Innovative Curricula.”

The event took place at the Dubai Police Officers Club in the presence of Brigadier Dr Sultan Abdul Hamid Al Jammal, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, along with strategic partners and a number of senior officers.

In his opening remarks, Brigadier Dr Al Jammal welcomed attendees and emphasised that the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has made innovation and future foresight a guiding principle driving Dubai towards excellence across all sectors. He noted that Dubai has become a global model for harnessing creative thinking to deliver high-quality services that ensure the satisfaction and well-being of all community members, particularly in vital sectors such as education.

Forum Objectives

Al Jammal outlined the forum’s main objectives: to strengthen partnerships between policing and academic sectors, leverage local and international expertise, update academic curricula, and align educational approaches with future requirements. He reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to continuous development in line with Dubai Police’s overarching strategy and an integrated framework that mobilises capabilities to meet future challenges and goals.

“In a rapidly changing world, institutions must enhance their adaptability through strategic foresight. At Dubai Police, we remain aligned with the strategic vision of the Government of Dubai, applying future foresight tools to map trends, anticipate opportunities, and define the systems and mechanisms required to fulfil our academic vision,” he added.

AI and Academic Transformation

A highlight of the forum was a panel session titled “Opportunities and Challenges of Integrating AI into Academic Education,” moderated by media personality Maitha Ibrahim from Dubai Media. The discussion covered three core areas.

Colonel Dr Ahmad Al Shehhi, Dean of the Dubai Police Academy, spoke on enhancing security and leadership education through AI; Dr Muhammad Qasim, Dean of the Dubai Future Academy, addressed the importance of AI-driven skill development; and Mr Gaith Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence at the Dubai Digital Authority, explored AI’s role in eliminating bureaucratic inefficiencies.

Sector-Based Discussions

The forum featured eight sector-specific discussion sessions focusing on various fields, including Criminal Investigations and Police Stations, Human Rights, Anti-Narcotics, Forensic Evidence, Traffic Operations, Community Happiness and Logistics, Excellence and Leadership, and Administration and Border Security.

Recognition and Appreciation

After the event, Brigadier Dr Sultan Al Jammal honoured the Academy’s strategic partners and contributors to the forum, expressing his appreciation for their efforts and wishing them continued success.
