Prayers Held at Dubai Gurudwara for Victims of Air India Crash

Dubai: Worshippers gathered at the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Jebel Ali, Dubai, on Friday to offer prayers for the victims of the devastating Air India crash that claimed more than 240 lives in Ahmedabad, India.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday when Air India Flight 171, a Gatwick-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after take-off, slamming into a residential neighborhood near the airport and erupting in flames. The aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 from Britain, seven from Portugal, one Canadian passenger, two pilots, and 10 cabin crew. Only one person is reported to have survived the crash.

Describing the crash as a “horrifying tragedy,” the Gurudwara leadership expressed profound sorrow and solidarity with the grieving families. “This is not just an airline tragedy, it is a human tragedy that has pierced through the soul of our global family,” said Surendra Singh Kandhari, chairman of the Guru Nanak Darbar.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” he added, offering prayers for strength to those affected and eternal peace for the victims.

India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a formal investigation into the cause of the crash. Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has pledged its full cooperation with Indian authorities during the probe.
