Kumaraswamy, concluded a three-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates from June 30 to July 2, 2025. The visit focused on expanding India's steel sector outreach and fostering bilateral trade partnerships.
Leading a high-level delegation comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Steel and top representatives from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), MECON Limited, and National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), Minister Kumaraswamy inaugurated the Dubai Representative Offices of all three companies. The opening marks a strategic move to deepen India’s industrial presence in the region and explore broader commercial opportunities.
The visit featured key diplomatic and business engagements. On June 30, the Minister met His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, where discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in the steel and industrial sectors. The following day, Mr. Kumaraswamy held talks with the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, to discuss strengthening trade and economic ties between the two nations.
The Indian delegation also visited major industrial sites, including the RAK Port and Stevin Rock quarries in Ras Al Khaimah, and units of Emirates Global Aluminum and Conares Steel in Jebel Ali, Dubai. These visits underscored India’s interest in understanding the UAE’s industrial infrastructure and exploring potential partnerships.
Additionally, the Minister engaged with the Indian business community during a roundtable organized by the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Dubai, and met with members of the Karnataka diaspora residing in the UAE.
The visit, a part of the ongoing high-level exchanges between India and the UAE, reinforces the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and highlights India’s commitment to strengthening industrial and trade relations in the Gulf region.
