Dubai: The Human Trafficking Monitoring Centre at Dubai Police’s General Department of Human Rights, in collaboration with the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, organised a specialised training course titled “Optimal Interview Techniques for Victims of Human Trafficking”.

The course was attended by 44 participants from Dubai Police and various government entities involved in the care and protection of human trafficking victims.

Colonel Saeed Rashid Al Heli, Director of the Human Trafficking Monitoring Centre, stated that the training forms part of Dubai Police’s annual training plan in partnership with strategic entities committed to combating human trafficking, including the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.

He emphasised that the course aimed to enhance the competencies of personnel by equipping them with the necessary tools, skills, and scientific knowledge to handle human trafficking victims. The training followed a structured academic approach that addressed the legal, humanitarian, and international dimensions of these crimes.

The two-day course was delivered by Dr Ghanima Hassan Al Bahri, Director of Care and Rehabilitation at the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
On the first day, Dr Al Bahri discussed the “Legal Definition of Human Trafficking from an International Perspective”, “Legal Protection for Victims of Human Trafficking”, and “Protocols for Engaging with Victims of Trafficking.”

The second day focused on “Optimal Interview Techniques for Victims of Human Trafficking,” covering planning, selection of time and location, interviewer qualifications, understanding the psychological and emotional state of victims, and appropriate interviewing methodologies.
