Dubai Police Esports Tournament Kicks off with More than 1,500 Players Competing in 8 Games

Dubai: The fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament will run until the 17 August at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf with the participation of over 1,500 registered players of various nationalities, including international participants. The total prize pool is valued at AED 200,000, and the competition, which features eight games, targets male and female participants aged between 10 and 35.

The event started at 5:00 pm with an introductory meeting for players’ families, reflecting Dubai Police’s commitment to promoting balanced gaming habits, caution in engaging with strangers, and awareness of cybercrimes that may occur through online games. The session aimed at strengthening community awareness, particularly in the digital and technological spheres, as part of the strategic goal to enhance safety and community happiness.

Dubai Police organises such events in response to the global popularity of online gaming among youth, while raising awareness on combating in-game cybercrimes, online fraud, and blackmail. The initiative also seeks to increase knowledge about police services designed to tackle cybercrime, including the “Ecrime” platform for reporting incidents and the online awareness platform accessible via https://ecrimehub.gov.ae/ar

The tournament further encourages maintaining both physical and mental well-being through moderate gameplay, safeguarding privacy by not sharing personal information, data, or images with strangers via in-game chats, and increasing awareness of secure electronic financial transactions. The opening session will conclude with fun competitions involving both players and parents.

Official matches will run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting at 10:00 am.
