2,000 Indian Expats Join ‘Viksit Bharat Run’ in Dubai

Dubai: Over 2,000 Indian expatriates in the UAE came together on Sunday morning to participate in the “Viksit Bharat Run” (Developed India Run), a community event held in Dubai.

The run was jointly organised by the Consulate General of India (CGI), the Indian People’s Forum (IPF), and the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO). According to Jitendra Vaidya, President of IPF, the Dubai edition formed part of a global initiative, with runs being held across 150 locations in 91 countries.

“More than 2,000 Indians gathered at 7am to reaffirm their commitment to the vision of a developed India by 2047. The Dubai edition turned out to be the largest worldwide, reflecting the unity and patriotic spirit of the Indian diaspora in the UAE,” Vaidya said.

Following the run, participants took a collective pledge for nation-building, administered by Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, who also joined the run. The pledge, repeated in unison, created a moment of shared patriotic enthusiasm.

The Government of India has set the goal of transforming the nation into a fully developed country by 2047, marking the centenary of independence.

In his vote of thanks, Mukesh Vora, Chairman of JITO, noted that such events not only bring the community together but also foster discipline, collective strength, and responsibility towards shaping India’s future.

The organisers also expressed gratitude to community volunteers, many of whom arrived as early as 4:30am to ensure the smooth conduct and successful execution of the event.
