Dubai: The Government of Dubai has always taken bold and firm steps to maintain the law and order in the city. In order to further enhance and ensure the safety and security of the people, Dubai is the first and foremost country to start the Smart Police Stations where top-grade policing services are provided. On September 18th, 2017 the first SPS was inaugurated in City walk. Over a span of 4 years, 16 Smart Police Stations have been set up within the Emirate of Dubai. They are self-service stations that work round the clock and offer 45 smart services in seven languages by processing the transaction digitally without any human intervention.

During the Pandemic, people are largely benefitted by the smart and swift services of SPS and 70 percent of the Police transactions were done through SPS. Filing a complaint or reporting a crime was made easy through the SPS. As per the Police strategic plan, eventually, all the traditional Police stations will be transformed to SPS to provide the best Police services efficiently 24 hours a day. 

A few important steps that are needed to carry out a smooth and quick transaction in SPS:

Residents need their Emirates ID whereas visitors should bring their passports.

While filing a complaint, if any documents have to be printed or scanned, Printer and scanner facilities are available in the SPS.

The complainant is connected to one of the Police officers through a video link.

The Police officer further asks the queries relevant to the case. Once all the details are given, and a statement is taken.

A copy of the filed case will be given to the complainant for future reference.

In most of the cases within 20 minutes the statement has been taken and last year, 99,251 transactions have been taken which would have been time consuming otherwise.

Out of the 60 main and subsidiary community- based services that are provided to the residential and commercial services, the following are a few where the SPS can be effectively utilized:

Detainee visit request
Police report inquiry.
Check application status
Heart patient service
Police museum tour.
To obtain Traffic status certificate, Good- conduct certicate, TWIMC Certificate.
 Lost and found items.
Lost-item certificate
To file a criminal complaint
Reissuing traffic and accident report.
It also offers Police leaders at your service, provides Home security, Social support in family violence cases.

The Dubai Police is not leaving any stone unturned and ensuring every possibility to deal with all types Police cases. As the SPS have been widely accepted and used by the people, more SPS will be rolled out very soon in order to make hassle free and transparent police digital services to be accessible to one and all and make Dubai a crime free and most preferred city to live in.
