Maj.Gen.Ali Singel receives Honorary Doctorate from UN

Dubai: The United Nations, represented by the World Federation of United Nations Friends (WFUNF) for the Middle East, North Africa, the UAE, and Oman, awarded His Excellency Major General Dr. Consultant Ali Singel, Health Advisor for Dubai Police, an honorary doctorate and the title of Goodwill Ambassador for Humanitarian and Community Action.
This accolade acknowledges his exceptional efforts in promoting humanitarian and social initiatives across various fields.
This event took place during a press conference at the Dubai Police Officers Club, attended by Professor Ali Hassan Salman Nasser, Regional Ambassador for the World Federation of United Nations Friends (WFUNF) in the Middle East, North Africa, the UAE, and Oman; Ms. Manal Ibrahim, Director of the Security Media Department at Dubai Police; Ms. Fatima Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council; Mr. Mohammad Al Hajjaji, General Coordinator of the Positive Spirit Council; along with several officers and media representatives.
Prof. Ali Nasser highlighted that the WFUNF is a global, non-profit organization that fundamentally believes in international cooperation to maintain peace and promote security, prosperity, and justice worldwide. “Aligned with the UN’s vision, WFUNF serves as a powerful force in addressing shared global challenges and seizing opportunities, while diligently working to advance the UN's goals and aspirations,” he added.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the UN, represented by the World Federation of United Nations Friends in the Middle East, North Africa, the UAE, and Oman, values collaboration with Dubai Police across various sectors. He confirmed that the UN is particularly eager for Dubai Police to join the Friends of the United Nations Association, especially as the UAE celebrates its 50th National Day, marked by impressive achievements that surpass those of many nations, alongside having one of the world's most advanced security systems.
Prof. Ali Nasser stated, “During their visit to the Dubai Police website, the Friends of the United Nations learned about the establishment of smart police stations and the implementation of a paperless system, both highlighting the police's commitment to environmental sustainability. Consequently, the Friends of the United Nations launched an initiative called "We Want to Learn from Dubai Police."
During the event, Prof. Ali Nasser announced that Dr. Ali Singel has been awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of his significant humanitarian and social contributions, notably his pivotal role in establishing the Thukher Club, an innovative initiative emanating from the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs in Dubai that aims to strengthen Emirati families by fostering intergenerational connections and integrating diverse cultures to enhance national identity and promote sustainability.
Additionally, he indicated that the Thukher Club has transformed the notion of progress through various age stages by emphasizing the importance of continuous giving. “The club's motto underscores the significance of quality of life for individuals, their families, and their communities,” Prof. Ali Nasser
Meanwhile, Major General Dr. Ali Single conveyed his sincere gratitude to the United Nations, represented by the World Federation of Friends of the United Nations, for awarding him the honorary doctorate in humanitarian and social work. He also expressed deep appreciation for the trust placed in him through the title of Goodwill Ambassador for Humanitarian and Community Action.
He added,” I would also like to thank our wise leadership for instilling the values of humanitarian work in the hearts of the nation’s people. These values were established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as a cultural foundation in government institutions and at the community level. We actively participate in all humanitarian campaigns launched by the state to aid those in distress, relieve suffering, and support the weak and afflicted during various disasters, calamities, and other circumstances.”
Major General Dr. Ali Singel expressed his pride in receiving the honorary doctorate from the UN, emphasizing that this recognition is not only for him but also for everyone in the Dubai Police, both military and civilian. He noted that the Dubai Police embody Sheikh Zayed's vision and the state's strategies in charitable and humanitarian efforts, implementing projects and initiatives that benefit various segments of society.
In addition, he underscored the crucial role of the Dubai Police in supporting and empowering people of determination through the initiative "My Community... A City for Everyone", which aims to transform Dubai into a fully inclusive city for people of determination by enhancing efforts in this vital area.
