Dubai: In a heartwarming moment, Dubai Police surprised a female inmate at the Correctional and Punitive Institutions with a special visit from her four children. This emotional reunion came after a long period of separation due to her imprisonment and personal family circumstances.

The visit was organised by the General Department of Correctional and Punitive Institutions in cooperation with the Community Development Authority. It formed part of the “Inmate Happiness” initiative, launched under the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and overseen by Major General Eid Muhammad Thani, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs. The initiative is designed to ease the emotional burden on inmates during their sentences.

Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi, Director of the Women’s Prison, explained that the inmate had been noticeably withdrawn and isolated from the other inmates. When approached by the prison administration, she confided that she deeply missed her children and had not seen them for a long time.

After learning her story, the administration worked swiftly and closely with the Community Development Authority to arrange the visit. On the day of the reunion, the inmate was informed that she had a visitor. She was taken by complete surprise when she saw her children waiting for her. Overcome with emotion, she burst into tears and embraced them in a powerful and touching moment that moved everyone present.

Colonel Al Zaabi affirmed that the General Department of Correctional and Punitive Institutions is committed to fostering social and humanitarian efforts, including strengthening family ties for inmates. These efforts reflect Dubai Police’s broader strategic objective of promoting happiness within the community.

She added that such initiatives are key to building trust between police and society, reinforcing the values of compassion and tolerance, and providing meaningful support to both inmates and their families.

The inmate expressed her sincere gratitude, saying she had always dreamed of seeing her children again. She and her children thanked Dubai Police for this unforgettable act of kindness and for their commitment to ensuring the well-being of all inmates.
