T-CHIP Submits Semiconductor Roadmap to Telangana Government
- September 10, 2025
Hyderabad: In a landmark step to position Telangana at the forefront of India’s semiconductor revolution, Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Chairman & Managing Director of the Technology Chip Innovation Program (T-CHIP), submitted a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) on semiconductors to the Hon’ble Minister for IT & Industries, Shri D. Sridhar Babu, at the Telangana Secretariat.
The Minister lauded the T-CHIP delegation for its in-depth research and forward-looking study, highlighting the DPR as a crucial milestone in Telangana’s journey to becoming a semiconductor hub.
The DPR draws from T-CHIP’s high-level visits to Taiwan and Hong Kong, incorporating strategic insights from global leaders such as TSMC, ARM, Synopsys, Faraday Technology, PUFsecurity, PUFacademy, GUS Technology, LiteMax, Supermicro, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), and TAIROS (Taiwan Automation Intelligence and Robot Show).
These international engagements provided valuable knowledge on advanced chip design, secure architectures, innovative manufacturing models, and emerging applications across industries.
The DPR outlines four key focus areas:
Talent Development – Training 1,000 professors and 10,000 students in semiconductor technologies to address the global shortfall of 1.5 million professionals by 2030, including India’s own need for 85,000 skilled experts.
Design – Establishing design hubs equipped with cutting-edge EDA tools and IP libraries through partnerships with leading global players such as ARM and Synopsys.
Manufacturing – Building on models pioneered by TSMC and Faraday, while integrating advanced security frameworks from PUFsecurity.
Applications – Driving industrial adoption through collaborations in EV batteries (GUS Technology), transparent displays (LiteMax), AI-enabled servers (Supermicro), and robotics (TAIROS).
Speaking on the occasion, Makthala stressed that under the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the leadership of Minister Sridhar Babu, Telangana is ready to serve as the launchpad for India’s semiconductor revolution.
While firmly anchored in Telangana, the model is designed for global replication. Active dialogues are already underway with partners in the UAE, Malaysia, and other Asian and Middle Eastern nations, positioning Telangana as a vital bridge for international semiconductor collaboration.
