Hyderabad: A gala time, laced with an international flavour, awaits all table tennis enthusiasts, especially the seniors and veterans, with the commencement of the inaugural Commonwealth Masters Table Tennis Championships 2023, under the auspices of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation (CTTF) in collaboration with Firefox Sports & Resorts, Hyderabad, which is hosting the grand four-day event in their ultra-modern premises at Moinabad from November 18 to 21, 2023.
 
With a whopping $ 25, 000 up for grabs in prize-money, the top-tier tournament will see a close fight in men and women singles and doubles and mixed doubles categories. In contention will be players who ruled the roost in their youthful heyday.
 
The men and women singles titlists will be richer by $ 500 each while the men and women doubles and mixed doubles winners will take home $300 each.
 
Open to players aged over 40 years, the competitions feature various age-group classifications, including 40-44 years; 45-49 years; 50-54 years; 55-59 years; 60-64 years; 65-69 years; 70-74 years; 75-79 years and 80+.
 
The CTTF is very hopeful of closely fought battles when the Masters slog it out to outwit one another for eventual honours.
 
Players from many of the 72 member-nations of the Federation will be seen in action at the Firefox Sports & Resorts at Moinabad in the outskirts of Hyderabad from Saturday.
